Lacey A. Poff
Associate Attorney
Lacey Poff joined Lusk Law in June of 2025. She is working in our Landlord/Tenant, Employment, Trust and Estates and general litigation practices. She brings a foundation of empathy, conflict resolution, and strong technical legal proficiency to Lusk Law. Lacey’s professional approach is grounded in ethics, strict adherence to professional standards, discretion, and confidentiality. Above all, she prioritizes building long-term, trust-based relationships with our clients, ensuring their interests are protected and their concerns are addressed with both competence and compassion.
Landlord/Tenant Practice
Lacey works closely with Rebekah Lusk, Esq., Managing Partner, in our Landlord Tenant practice. She has an excellent record securing judgments in District Court Landlord/Tenant actions. She has supported our clients in Failure to Pay Rent, security deposit retention, Tenant Holding Over, Wrongful Detainer, and Breach of Contract actions. She has experience navigating complex eviction proceedings and supporting clients as they seek to evict a tenant or clients working to get back on their feet and avoid eviction. She is skilled at managing tight deadlines, preparing thorough case files, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. These efforts have consistently resulted in favorable outcomes that protect our client’s interests.
Lacey has substantial experience supporting clients to engage with their Homeowner Associations (HOA) or Condominium Associations (COA). She has successfully supported clients to challenge HOA and COA actions that exceed their legal and statutory authority.
Finally, Lacey has successfully negotiated clients out of their leases and supported tenants to successfully schedule move-out walkthroughs with landlords who were not complying with the statutory requirements which guaranty walkthroughs either five days before or five days after a tenant moves out. She is adept at proactively managing the move-out walkthrough process as a proactive way to prevent misunderstandings that could lead to legal disputes. By clearly explaining expectations and identifying potential issues early, she has experience reducing disputes over damages and security deposit returns.
In addition to litigation, Lacey supports our clients to create new leases for their properties or update existing leases to become compliant with the ever-changing statutory landscape governing landlord tenant relationships in Maryland.
Estate Planning
Lacey leads the estate planning practice at Lusk Law and has substantial experience creating estate documents that are personalized, compassionate, and grounded in trust. Lacey has experience supporting individuals and families throughout the entire estate planning process. Her approach focuses on understanding each person’s unique goals, priorities, and concerns. She has significant experience drafting wills, charitable trusts, powers of attorney, and advanced health directives. She is proficient at supporting our clients to make informed decisions, identifying strategies that protect assets, minimize potential conflicts, and honor long-term wishes. She has coordinated with financial advisors and other end of life professionals to support families and individuals as they plan for the future.
Lusk Law has extensive experience in supporting clients to draft trusts and support clients during Trust Litigation. Lacey is available to consult with clients interested in establishing trusts and she can also act as a personal representative or trustee for clients who have limited options of family or friends to act in the role.
Employment Law
Lacey supports our Business Law practice with Employment law support. She supports our client’s businesses to navigate hiring, discipline, termination, and workplace policy development. She can assist in drafting and reviewing employee handbooks, contracts, and compliance documents to reduce risk. When issues arise, she has experience providing strategic advice to address concerns quickly and prevent escalation. She supports businesses to understand their responsibilities under Maryland and Federal employment laws. Her approach emphasizes proactive planning to minimize disputes and protect organizational interests. She has experience of providing support to businesses during EEOC investigations and breach of contract employment-related proceedings.
Litigation Experience
Lacey understands that litigation can be overwhelming, and she works closely with clients to guide them through each step. From the initial consultation to the final verdict, she prioritizes transparency and thoughtful decision-making. Lacey brings practical experience managing all stages of trial preparation. Her work includes conducting thorough legal research, organizing and producing discovery, identifying the strongest arguments for each client’s position and advocating for clients in the courtroom. She has experience preparing witnesses through practice sessions, so they feel confident and ready to testify. Her experience includes drafting persuasive pre-trial statements, preparing exhibit lists, pretrial motions, and collaborating closely with clients to ensure all relevant facts are accurately documented and effectively communicated.
Lacey is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in every case that she handles. Her litigation experience spans a range of disputes, from straightforward matters to those involving complex legal questions. She views every case as an opportunity to secure meaningful outcomes for our clients. She believes that strong advocacy begins with listening, understanding, and building trust.
Prior Experience
Prior to joining Lusk Law, Lacey spent twelve years with Save the Children, a Humanitarian Aid organization focused on supporting children and families during crisis. Working in advocacy and monitoring, she developed a deep understanding of policy, client needs, and the importance of safeguarding people’s rights. In that role, she analyzed complex situations, identified patterns of concern, conducted risk analysis, and communicated findings to stakeholders at the government and civil society levels. Today, she brings both perspectives—advocacy and litigation—to each case, offering clients a balanced and practical approach. This transition has allowed her to serve our clients more effectively by combining compassion, analytical skill, and decisive legal action.
When Lacey is not in the office or courtroom, she can be found on her small acreage berry and flower farm in Washington County with her seven (7) year old triplet daughters, 12 chickens, and three barn cats.
Lacey received her Bachelor’s in political science from Ohio University and her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University in Boston, MA, graduating with honors in International Law.
