Associate Attorney

We are seeking a highly motivated and committed associate attorney to join our team. We are a small general civil practice, focusing on litigation, landlord/tenant, business law, real estate, family law and estate matters.  We are seeking a candidate interested in focusing on landlord/tenant matters, collections, business transactional matters and general case support to the partner, with a goal of developing his/her own client base. Experience in all of these areas is not required, but the ability to learn and expand expertise is a must. The successful candidate will have strong research and writing skills, an ability and desire to appear in court, personal initiative with the capacity to work independently, superb organizational skills, and enthusiasm for growing his/her own client base and the firm’s practice. Lusk Law, LLC, serves clients predominantly in Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, Carroll, and Baltimore County and City. The attorney will be located in Frederick, but must be willing to travel to other Counties for court and client meetings, as necessary.

Legal Assistant/Office Manager/Paralegal

Looking for experienced, energetic person for fast paced and growing Frederick law office, specializing in the areas of civil litigation, landlord tenant law, estate administration, business transactional, family law, and real estate law. Candidate should be a self starter, tenacious and have the ability to manage various tasks, and be a strong team player. Position requires front line contact with prospective and current clients. Candidate should be comfortable dealing with high stress situations, working under deadlines, managing multiple projects, and be self-motivated.

Experience preferred with paperless office, MacOS, Dropbox, Clio, Quickbooks, Slack, and basic Excel functions. Should have strong experience with the Maryland and Federal court system, as well as MDEC filing procedures, and PACER. Familiarity with CRM software desirable, such as Lexicata.

Position is responsible for day-to-day front end management of the law office. Includes performing bi-monthly billing and processing payments and deposits, collection of accounts, as well as reconciliation of firm accounts and vendor payments.  Managing vendor relationships and general office administration. Overseeing case management as well as performing collection work for client judgments.  General responsibilities include drafting forms, complaints, discovery and other responsive pleadings. Scanning documents and electronic file organization. On boarding new clients. Drafting and mailing of correspondence. Management of attorney calendar and other case deadlines. Entry of case associated fees.  Maintenance and ordering of office supplies. Communication with court personnel and opposing counsel.

Prior legal experience is required, but not required to have a paralegal certificate.  Salary will be commensurate with experience. Please provide resume, cover letter, which includes salary requirements and references, for consideration for this position.
