Proud to Serve the City of Frederick

At Lusk Law, LLC, one of the things we enjoy most about our work is being part of the community. The clients we serve in our Frederick office are landlords, business owners, and others with strong ties to the city – they’re here because they want to be, and so are we.

In the last approximately 20 years, the population of Frederick has grown roughly 40 percent and is still growing. Along with that growth has come new apartment buildings, independent restaurants, shopping centers, and other businesses that serve the needs of local residents. And our law firm has provided counsel to aspiring entrepreneurs, so they’re better positioned to enjoy long-term success and become staples of the community.

The Spirit of the City

Frederick is a resilient and resourceful city. It has been an important crossroads since its inception in the early days of our nation and now stands as the second largest incorporated city in Maryland after Baltimore. That being said, it still retains a very unique small town feel while providing everything you would want to find in a larger city. In 1976, after floodwaters ruined downtown homes and businesses, residents worked together to clean up the mess. City leaders devised a solution that would reduce the risk of flooding – create an underground system to divert storm water – and the above-ground channel associated with this project became one of Frederick’s best assets: Carroll Creek Park. Carroll Creek has continued to expand its boundaries and the city has seen more businesses setting up in and around this area which is both pedestrian friendly as well as having easily accessible parking for those who are doing business or just shopping in the area.

Frederick is part of the national Main Street Programs and has focused on the revitalization of the historic downtown area. Visitors flock to the city during the weekends to wander through the downtown area, stopping in at antique stores, local clothing stores, independent book and kids stores, and dining at the City’s fabulous restaurants.

Frederick is not only a great tourist destination, but is also home to a Medimmune Biologics facility as well as the U.S. Army installation of Fort Detrick, a bioscience and communications hub which has expanded in recent years, bringing additional growth and jobs to the County with Frederick being the northern anchor of the I-270 Technology Corridor.

Our Frederick law office is just a few blocks away from Carroll Creek and about a block away from The Weinberg Center for the Arts (which in 1940 became the first city building to have air-conditioning) and is located in one of the most historic buildings in the city. We enjoy being located in such a vibrant and busy downtown area and look forward to seeing what the coming years will bring. The Downtown Frederick Partnership has a five-year plan to add more jobs, housing, and lodging downtown, as well as bringing more people into the city center for recreation.
